Time for a brief intermission from my concert shots.
I need some practise on product photo. So I gave myself a task. Shooting a shiny object. I wanted good controlled high ligh. The nearest suiting object was my watch.
It was harder than I had imagined. First try was a major fail. Next try turned out OK, but I feel I'm not really there yet. I'd really appreciate some feedback on this. Would you buy this used watch?
It's not bad for a first attempt, but the face looks a bit underexposed, and it doesn't really pop.
ReplyDeleteIf you can find one in your part of the world, get a copy of Light: Science and Magic. It's a great resource for learning to light tricky subjects.
Thanks Dave.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, as presented it is about half a stop underexposed.
Had a second look at the file, the exposure is pretty stop on. Must have made a silly mistake during pp. Can't really explain why, probably just because I've gone "blind" while I was working at it.
Found Light: Science and Magic at Amazon, also found a post about it Strobist. It will probably be in my next oreder from Amazon,
Got a comment with valuable input from alohadave that got lost during some server maintenance. Thanks Dave :-)
